The Carl N. Platou Leadership Competition Awards were announced at a luncheon at the Carlson School on November 19. The awards recognize the leadership skills and innovative thinking of an elite group of students who are complementing their MBA education with a medical industry specialization.
Each year, three students are honored both for innovative thinking and outstanding leadership. Taking first place and a $2,000 award was Matthew Stoll. Michelle Sotak won second place with a $1,000 award. Third place and a $500 award went to Jason Humphrey. Each student is in the Part-Time MBA program. The awards were presented by Carl Platou who also gave a few remarks.
The keynote speaker at the ceremony was Susan Alpert, senior vice president and chief regulatory officer, Medtronic. She is also a founding member of the Medical Industry Leadership Institute's (MILI) National Industry Council.
The Platou Leadership Competition Committee is chaired by Nazie Eftekhari, chair and CEO, HealthEZ. Mark Eustis, president and CEO, Fairview Health Services, is co-chair.
