What qualifications do I need to apply?
MBA in Two is a selective, deferred admissions program designed specifically for University Honors Program seniors at the University of Minnesota. Applicants must be in the process of completing or have completed their Honors degree by graduating with Latin Honors.
Does my undergraduate degree need to be in business?

You are not required to have an undergraduate degree, coursework or work experience in business. The Carlson School recruits and admits students from a broad range of academic and professional backgrounds. About one-third of our students come from a traditional business undergraduate or professional background, another third of our students have a background in technology or engineering, and the last third have a background in a wide variety of disciplines and functional areas (such as non-profit, education, visual and performing arts, etc.).

How will my application be reviewed?
Applications are reviewed as a whole and candidates are admitted into the program based on academic credentials and general fit for the program. The admissions committee will consider your academic performance (official transcripts for any post-secondary coursework and GPA), GMAT test scores, admissions interview, work experience, student involvement and achievements, personal statement, and professional/academic references.
Do you required an admissions interview?
Yes. All MBA in Two applicants are required to complete an admissions interview. After you have submitted your application, you will be invited to interview.
When should the GMAT or GRE be taken?

We require all materials, including test scores, to be submitted before we review an application. Prospective students should plan to take the GMAT or GRE on or before the application due date in order to meet the application deadline. We recommend taking the GMAT or GRE at least two to four weeks prior to the application date to ensure timely review of your application.

Do you require an admissions interview?

Admission interviews are by invitation only. Our admissions team will invite qualified candidates to interview at the Carlson School of Management. Not all applicants will be interviewed. Admissions interviews may include personal interview with a staff /faculty member, a class visit and time to speak with a student ambassador. Although we highly recommend coming to campus if you are chosen to interview, interviews may be conducted via Skype or phone.

Are MBA in Two students eligible for scholarships?
MBA in Two candidates are automatically considered for academic scholarships and fellowships through the admissions review process - no additional applications are needed. Our academic scholarships and fellowships are highly competitive, with a typical scholarship recipient scoring a 700 on their GMAT.
What is the GMAT?

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a standardized computer-adaptive test used by schools to help assess the qualifications of applicants for advanced study in business or management. It measures basic verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills. The MBA in Two program requires every applicant to take the GMAT.

When should the GMAT be taken?

We require all materials, including test scores, to be submitted before reviewing an applicant for admission into our program. We recommend taking the GMAT at least two to four weeks prior to the priority application deadline to ensure timely review of your application.

Can I take the GMAT more than once?
Yes. If you take the GMAT more than once, the admissions committee will consider your highest score.
What are the minimum score requirements for the GMAT?

In order to be considered for MBA in Two, candidates must score at least a 660 on the GMAT.

What is the application deadline?
To be considered for MBA in Two, Honors seniors must submit a complete application by July 1 of their graduating year. However, we will continue to accept applications for the program until September 1 of that same year.
When are application decisions sent?
Admissions decisions for the MBA in Two program will be provided to applicants 4-6 weeks after the July 1st priority application deadline.
I have been admitted to the MBA in Two program. When do I begin the full-time MBA program?
Honors students apply and receive a decision in their senior year, and if admitted, enter the Carlson MBA Full-Time program after completing two years of professional work experience. For example, if you graduated by May of 2012 and were admitted to the program, you will begin the Full-Time MBA program in fall of 2014.
Are there opportunities for MBA in Two students to stay involved with Carlson during their two year deferment?
MBA in Two students participate in career coaching, professional development and mentorships with the support of the Carlson Graduate Business Career Center, along with student clubs and organizations - these opportunities are available to MBA in Two students even before starting the Full-Time MBA program.
