The Carlson Funds Enterprise was one of the first student-managed portfolios in the country. Our students and professional advisors are responsible for a small capitalization growth fund and a fixed income fund that combine for an asset total of more than $35 million*. That figure puts us in the Top Three student-managed investment funds in the world, based on assets under management.
The students who make up the Carlson Funds Enterprise work with real participants who have invested real money on which they expect a real return. That means our students are required to practice real world management.
*Total combined assets of the Carlson Growth Fund and the Carlson Fixed Income Fund as of 7/31/12.
The Carlson Funds Enterprise (CFE) is the original Enterprise course and is one of the premier student-run funds in the country. The CFE is designed for students who are interested in careers in investment management, corporate finance, and investment banking.
The CFE manages two funds, a small capitalization growth fund and a fixed income fund. CFE students manage all aspects of the funds including analysis of securities, trading, compliance, marketing, and client reporting. Students are guided by two investment industry professionals.
The Carlson School Growth Fund currently has $18 million under management. Analysts research and present two stocks to the Investment Oversight Committee, one stock in the fall and one stock in the spring. Assistance and oversight is provided by professional mentors and academic faculty.
The Carlson School Fixed Income Fund currently has $17 million under management. Each analyst covers a sector, with new research presented to the Investment Oversight Committee twice a year. Assistance and oversight is provided by professional mentors and academic faculty.
You fully understand the concepts you're learning because you're putting them into action every day. When you're dealing with real money and expected to achieve real results, your entire focus shifts. The Funds Enterprise experience is like having a real job."
