As the largest city in Italy and among the wealthiest in the European Union, Milan is the financial center of Italy. Italy is the eighth largest economy in the world and the fourth largest in Europe, and recent governmental reforms suggest future growth and competitiveness in the globalized business world.

Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi is a top-ranked business school in Europe and worldwide. Founded in 1902 and considered the premier university in Italy, it’s the first Italian institution of higher education to focus on economics and management. The school is central to a global network of business and economics universities and favors cultural integration, international exchange, and economic integration in its wide-reaching partnerships. Università Bocconi recognizes that as political debates about globalization are ongoing, an economically interdependent business world has long been a reality. The program aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the commercial, financial, and institutional realities of the new global market from an international perspective.

To be eligible for this education abroad program, you must be:

• A current students enrolled in a Carlson School Part-Time MBA or MA-HRIR program
• In good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0
• Additional criteria may apply

Students in the program receive up to 14 S/N Carlson School International Business (IBUS 5100) credits for a semester at Università Bocconi, enrolling in a total of 28–30 credits to meet the minimum requirements. An Italian language crash course is also available for an additional cost about one month prior to the start of the program.

Carlson School students enroll in the International Economics and Management program, which is taught in English.

Four-week Italian language classes are offered before the term begins for an additional fee.

International students can apply to live at the Arcobaleno residence hall, which is approximately 20 minutes from Bocconi by tram. Arcobaleno offers individual rooms with a shared kitchen and bath. Students may also choose to find their own apartment in Milan. The International Relations office will assist students with their Arcobaleno application, and offer limited guidance in finding off-campus accommodations.

Application materials include the online application form, a resume, and essay. Submit a completed application by the February 28th priority deadline prior to the academic year in which you wish to participate. Programs that do not fill following the priority deadline will be reviewed on a rolling-admissions basis.

Admission to all programs is based on review of your application by the study abroad selection committee. Applications will be reviewed following the deadline, and you will be notified of your status by official letter in April. Once selected, you will be asked to pay a $500 deposit in order to confirm your place in the program.
