from the Carlson School's Human Resources and Industrial
Relations (HRIR) program, and faculty and staff of that program.
Call for Proposals:
"HR Tomorrow...Expand, Connect, Engage"
Changing economic, political and demographic conditions, layered on increased organizational pressure to effectively manage costs, have changed the playing field for engaged human resources departments. Our "new normal" (at least for the foreseeable future) requires that we understand the business effects of slow economic growth, increased uncertainty about the future, an aging workforce, major healthcare reform, and an unparalleled need to attract and retain key talent. Through a series of dynamic and interactive sessions, "HR Tomorrow - Expand, Connect, Engage" will help (or further) equip human resources leaders at all levels within their organizations to continue to navigate through what most agree is a complex and challenging time.
The conference planning committee is currently accepting proposals for breakout session presentations related to this theme. The conference provides an outstanding opportunity to showcase your expertise in front of a broad HR audience. Sessions are 70 minutes in length, providing approximately 50-60 minutes for presentation and the remaining 10-20 minutes for Q & A.
In order for our conference attendees to get the most out of the conference, we're looking for breakout sessions that will provide a concentrated look into HR functional areas across the following tracks:
Global HR
Total Rewards
Talent Management - Attraction, Development, Retention
Leadership and Strategy
Technology
Selected sessions and presenters should provide attendees with useful, realistic tools and strategies that may be shared and applied within their workplace. Ideal presentations will focus particularly on those skills, strategies and/or tools designed to address a particular topic within one of the five tracks.
Your proposal should include:
Your presentation title and applicable HR practice area and track
A brief presentation description (up to 200 words)
Well-defined, realistic learning objectives that can be achieved in the time allotted
An explanation of how your presentation will provide participants with applicable “hands-on†learning and/or tools to apply within their workplace
A description of how your presentation is aligned to the conference theme
Three meetings and/or conferences at which you have presented material (to demonstrate speaking experience)
A brief bio (up to 500 words) highlighting your experience and academic background
Our conference facilities feature the latest technology, allowing for PowerPoint presentations, overhead projection, and video presentations. The deadline for presentation proposal submission was January 6, 2012. However, mark your calendar as we would encourage speakers to turn in an application for next years event.
